Game 1 - Brooklyn Atlantics 20 - Gothams 11
Game 2 - Flemington Neshanock 11 - Gothams 10
Smithtown, NY - Good day to everyone, This is Slider with the game reports. On June 10, 2007, The Gothams squared off against the Brooklyn Atlantics and Flemington Neshanocks in two competitive games.
Game 1 Vs. Brooklyn Atlantics - 1864 Rules:
In game one against the always tough Atlantics, we showed that we can keep up with the talented team. In the first inning, Slider (that's me) almost re-created a big moment in Gotham history when he hit a monster shot into left field a few years ago and earned a lead off triple in the first inning at the great Central Park, only this time he hit it to Center Field. On this day it was not meant to be when Slider was thrown out on two perfect throws by the center fielder and their talented shortstop Dean to get the fleet-footed Slider out at third. He would have made it if the special shoes he wore had cleats. Atlantics score three runs to make it 3-0. In the second inning, the Gothams outfield turned it on by 2 great catches made by the center fielder El Presidente to silence the Atlantics in the second. The Gothams even the score in the bottom of the second inning with Wickets, Stacks, and El Presidente scoring in. By this time the score was 3-3.
In the third inning, The Gothams shoutout the Atlantics again, and scored a run because of a controversial call by the umpire Lip who call a pitch that might have been a strike but was called a ball therefore Flash reached base on balls and Slider came home for the only run of the inning. This would give us our first and only lead of the game (4-3).Trotter was furious, he gave Lip a piece of his mind. Lip threw him out of the game but the kind-hearted Slider went to Lip and told him to give the pitcher another chance.
In the fourth inning, the Atlantics scored eight runs and the Gothams was only able to score one on a sac fly by Shoeless to send El Presidente home who reach base on balls. The score was now 11-5. The Gothams was able to shutdown the Atlantics in the 5th and 6th innings. The Gothams scored a run in each of those innings to make the score 11-6. In the seventh inning, both teams kept their bats swinging, the Atlantics scored three in the the top of the inning while the Gothams scored four with Midnight (from Neshanocks) Slider, Flash (from Atlantics), and Wickets scoring in. This is would make the score 14-10.
Both teams were scoreless in the 8th but the highlight of the inning was when Dean from the Atlantics hit a monster shot to right and Midnight tracked it down and caught hit on the bounce for an important out of the inning. The ninth inning is where everything went downhill. The Atlantics out of nowhere scored six runs despite the good effort by the Gothams. In the bottom of the ninth with one last try, the Gothams were down to two outs and Stacks said I'm not going down quietly and reached base on balls also stole two bases. El Presidente fouled back to the catcher Tree who made a couple of outs to end the game. The final score: Atlantics 20, Gothams 11

Game 2 Vs Flemington Neshanock - 1864 Rules:
Due to the fact time was escaping us, this game would be a seven inning game, or would it? This game was very competitive to the end. In the first inning, the Gothams was chicagoed and the Neshanocks jumped out to a 2-0 lead. The Gothams got the bats going in the second inning when everyone went up to bat. The onslaught started with Wickets who hit a single and stole a base, Shoeless scoring a run on a single by Wombat then Flash (from Atlantics) with a three-run home run to give the Gothams a 5-2 lead. In the bottom of the second, the Neshanocks would score two more runs but not before the Gothams outfield would make a great play by Slider trying to catch a fly ball and it pops out of his hand only for El Presidente to back him up and catch it while it was still in the air. The Gothams would still lead 5-4 after two innings.
In the third inning, the Gothams would score two more runs with a Wickets double and a Shoeless single and chicagoed the Neshanocks with the help from the centerfielder El Presidente who caught two straight fly balls to make the last two outs of the inning. This would make the score 7-4 in the favor of the mighty Gothams. In the fourth inning, the Gothams would score one run on a wild pitch by Bobby the Flemington pitcher and of course Slider couldn't resist but to take advantage of this mistake. The Neshanocks would go on to score three runs to keep the game close in favor of the Gothams, 8-7. In the fifth inning, the Gothams were shutdown by the team from New Jersey and Flemington would score three more to take the lead, 10-8.
In the sixth inning, the Gothams was able to score one run, with the combination of Flash hitting a triple to center and Slider sending him home with a fly out to right field. In the bottom of the six, El Presidente made another good out by knowing where the batter was going to hit the ball and caught an easy fly ball to end the inning. At the end of six the score was 10-9. In the seventh inning, the Gothams was able to score one more run to tie the game with a Shoeless triple and Wombat sending him home with a pop out to left field. The two captains, Slider and Brooklyn talked between the inning if their respective teams would want to play extra innings with there was a tie. Both captains did not want a tie and they agreed but Flemington still had a chance to win this game in the bottom of the seventh inning. The team from New Jersey was able to get one more run to win the game and bring the final score to 11-10. It was a well played game by both teams. Till next time HUZZAH!!!
